Tune in Friday from 11am to 1pm for Fridays at the Scandling Cafe, and this week we’ll be joined by HWS Professor of Education Pat Collins early in the show to talk about The Laramie Project, a compelling docudrama, originally created by Moises Kaufman and the members of Tectonic Theatre Project, based on interviews with the residents of Laramie, Wyoming in the aftermath of the 1998 murder of Matthew Shepard, a young gay student at the University of Wyoming. The play chronicles the ways in which the residents of Laramie struggled to come to terms with Shepard’s murder.
The play is a joint production between the HWS Theatre Program and the Geneva Theatre Guild and will take place in the Black Box Theatre at the Geneva Community Center (160 Carter Rd) on the following dates:
- Friday and Saturday, November 5 and 6 at 7:30 p.m.
- Sunday, November 7 at 2:00 p.m.
- Thursday, Friday and Saturday, November 11, 12, 13 at 7:30 p.m.
Tickets are $12 adults, $10 seniors, free for HWS students with ID. You can get them at www.gtglive.org or at the HWS College Store on St Clair Street, or at Area Records on Seneca St in Geneva, or The UPS Store on Pre-Emption Road in Geneva.
